How we enhanced urban waste management practices
The Challenge
Lipor, responsible for managing urban waste from 8 municipalities serving 1 million residents, faced the challenge of optimizing their waste management practices. They needed a scalable platform to integrate with multiple municipal systems, enhance data collection, provide real-time analytics, and improve operational efficiency, all while preparing for the future implementation of a “Pay-As-You-Throw” (PAYT) model.
The solution
Optimizer developed a comprehensive waste management platform using Oracle APEX. This platform centralized waste data, streamlined processes, and provided geospatial mapping tools for route optimization and equipment management. APIs were implemented to ensure seamless integration with existing municipal systems, enabling real-time data synchronization.
The result
The waste management platform resulted in a 75% reduction in waste unloading time and saved 100 hours annually in administrative tasks. Four municipalities achieved 100% monitoring of selective waste collection. Geolocation of equipment improved route planning, and dashboards provided real-time insights, enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making.
